Camas Referendum 1 Update: The Fight Continues...

We filed two documents with Skamania Court this afternoon: a Motion for Leave to Amend the Complaint Against Clark County and a Note for Hearing which states the time and date to hear our Motion for Leave. It's our hope that our Motion for Leave will be heard within two weeks.

Thank you to all who continue to send encouragement and lend their energy to us in support of this fight.

So what does this mean? In a nutshell:

  • We still have an open and ongoing case against Clark County.

  • We remain confident that we did - in fact - deliver the 2730 votes needed.

  • We still hope to bring the Camas Utility Tax to the August ballot so we can have a proper vote on it.

Have you been watching your City of Camas utility bill? The costs to residents are adding up. $6, $5, $4.... and for what? Our streets aren't getting better. Our city hasn't gained any new firefighters. But the city is hiring even more consultants!

Remember when former interim City Administrator Jeff Swanson equated the tax hit to "a cup of coffee?" Easy to say for a guy who raked in $600K from the city during his tenure.

So are you missing your cup of coffee yet? Drop a comment and let us know what you're seeing on your bill.
